Balancing body, mind, and spirit

Providing compassionate care in your community since 1978

Regular visits to a chiropractor help maintain good health and prevent pain and injury. Dr. Larry Russell and Dr. Ryan Russell practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes examination, diagnosis and treatment. Repetitive movements and everyday activities can cause your vertebrae to shift slightly. These movements cause nerves to compress and can lead to pain, such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches. A chiropractic adjustment aims to realign the vertebrae in your spine to release the nerve compression, relieving you from pain. Chiropractic care is a safe, effective and affordable treatment option for many different types of conditions.

Back Pain

Chiropractic for the low back has been repeatedly shown to be the most effective treatment for low back pain. In fact, major studies have shown that chiropractic care is more effective, cheaper and has better long-term outcomes than any other treatment. This makes sense because chiropractic care is the only method of treatment that serves to re-establish normal vertebral motion and position in the spine. All other treatments, such as muscle relaxants, pain killers and bed rest, only serve to decrease the symptoms of the problem and do not correct the problem itself.

Spinal Manipulation

Chiropractic adjustment or manipulation is a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the doctor of chiropractic’s intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his or her hands--or an instrument--to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient's pain. Chiropractic manipulation is a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. We adapt the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.

Auto Accident Injury

Whiplash is one of the most common injuries sustained during car accidents—and often one of the hardest to treat. Nearly 300,000 whiplash injuries occur each year, many at low speeds. It takes only a 2.5 mile-per-hour change in speed to injure the neck.

Without proper treatment, some injuries can continue to cause pain for years. As soft tissue injuries heal, they develop scar tissue. If the spine is not aligned and full range of motion isn’t recovered before scarring sets in, it can ultimately inhibit normal functioning and even lead to spinal degeneration.

As doctors of chiropractic we are uniquely positioned to help car accident victims avoid the prescription drug cycle. Using a variety of drug-free techniques, from spinal adjustments to electric muscle stimulation to rehabilitative exercises, chiropractors can:

Relieve pain. Soft-tissue injuries may take months to fully heal, but a chiropractor can often provide pain relief much quicker than that.

Restore mobility. The soreness and stiffness from a motor vehicle injury can inhibit movement. Chiropractors work with patients to help get them moving again as quickly as possible so they can regain full range of motion before scar tissue develops.

Support long-term healing. The muscle weakness resulting from a car accident can leave patients vulnerable to re-injury. Chiropractic care often involves rehabilitative exercises that improve flexibility and strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy is FDA cleared and has a high success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs. It is a non-surgical, traction based therapy for the relief of back and leg pain or neck and arm pain. Anyone who has back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

Everyone has headaches at some point in their life, and they manifest in four different types: tension, cluster, migraine and trigger point headaches. Each type can present in different ways. Some can be mild, while others are severe enough to cause nausea and vomiting. Because they have become so common, many people consider headaches a normal part of life, but at no point in life are headaches normal. A headache is a warning sign that something in your body has gone awry.

Research study after research study, new findings continue to demonstrate that chiropractic adjustments are among the most effective headache treatments. This is no surprise to chiropractors, as most headaches originate in the neck region, which a majority of chiropractors specialize in.

The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest the patient in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.

After having intense pain in my sciatica, I came to Russell Chiropractic. They gave me an x-ray and several months of treatment. I now have NO pain. I was unable to walk without pain and perform normal activity and now I can resume walking 2-3 miles a day along with playing golf!! Anyone with this type of problem — I highly recommend a visit to Russell Chiropractic.

At 73 I was beginning to have problems walking any distance, even as small of a distance as across the street to my mailbox. After the spinal decompression treatments I can now walk limited distances without any lower back or leg pain.

For over 35 years I have gone to several chiropractors. I might hurt worse for 2 or 3 days after an adjustment but thought this was normal. When I got into a situation of excruciating pain and my chiropractor was gone on vacation had to find someone else to help me. I heard Dr. Russell was highly recommended so I made an appointment. Dr. Larry Russell took x-rays pf me head, neck, and back. He told me I had severe deterioration and should not let anyone give me an adjustment. He suggested the spinal decompression therapy. How I wish I had known about this sooner. There was minimal discomfort and no hurting for days afterward. I am still going to my maintenance therapy twice a month. I just never thought the spinal decompression would work so well. I am still amazed even after one year.
