Most patients do not know what to expect at their first appointment with a doctor of chiropractic. DCs start with taking a patient's history and then a physical examination to make a working diagnosis. Imaging or lab tests may be used to make a diagnosis in addition, such as MRI, CT scan or X-ray. DCs will explain your condition, a treatment plan and the risks and benefits of all procedures. Spinal manipulations are the most common treatment, which involve the use of the doctor’s hands on joints and can reduce pain.
